Chicken Haleem

Chicken Haleem is easiest way to enjoy restaurant style sticky haleem in no time. It is very easy to make at home and the taste is amazing. Haleem is traditionally made with beef but Now you can find different variations in it. Today, I will be making Chicken Haleem from scratch with the help of @lailanautrals products. They have finest Lentils available in Uk. I will be serving this with Zeera Rice , using @lailanautrals Gold basamati Rice. You can serve with naan or chappatis.

Method

In a bowl, add whole wheat, barely, rice, channa daal, urad daal, red split lentils, moong daal, pour water, rinse throughly and soak overnight.
Next day, strain the grains, transfer to a deep pan over the stove, pour water, salt, bay leaves , turmeric & cinnamon stick. Stir , Bring to boil , cover and cook on low heat. Stir occasionally. Once all grains are tender, remove from heat. Discard bay leaves & cinnamon stick. And set aside.

For CHICKEN;
In a pan , add oil, sliced onions and sauté until slightly brown. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for few seconds. Add green Chillies and fry for few seconds. Add boneless chicken and cook until colour changes to white. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, mace powder , nutmeg powder, garam masala. Give it a good mix. Pour water to tender the meat and for the broth. Give it a mix, cover and let it cook for 30/40 minutes on low medium heat until tender. Once meat is tender, mash it coarsely.
Return the grains pot on to the stove, add cooked meat and broth. Give it a good mix and let it cook until combined together for couple of minutes. Use hand blender and blend the meat and grains until desired consistency. And let it cook on low heat until desired thickness.
Serve with lemon wedges, fried onions, chopped coriander, green chilli, & julienne cut ginger . And Enjoy with rice or Naan.

  • Whole wheat: 150 g
  • Barley: 50 g
  • Channa daal: 50 g
  • Urad lentil: 30 g
  • Red split lentils: 30 g
  • Moong lentil: 30 g
  • Rice: 30 g
  • Water: 1 litres
  • Green chillies: 2/3
  • Ginger garlic paste: 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder: 1 & 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder: 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder: 2 tsp
  • Garam masala: 1 tsp
  • Mace: 1/4 tsp
  • Nutmeg: 1/4 tsp
  • Bay leaves: 2
  • Cinnamon stick: 3 inch
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric : 1/2 tsp
  • Water: 2 litres
